They then moved on to San Diego, California, and the agency checked on her at this location. Henry and Gertrude Wilson had a girl child that died on the very date Bessie was born. We have done our DNA and there is a Shaddack -Thatcher connection.

I have always wanted to know more. I am the daughter to Wayne Roger Daughenbaugh and have not been able to get information other than a few rumors. I was told by a third cousin that my grandparents William and Laura had a son named Michael born in 1933 That doctor's said Laura couldn't have any more children. I was told that they were close to a prominent Judge and that the young woman was not married that the birth father was a young college kid last name Baker and the girl was Marie Oxner under age and daughter to a high class family unwed it was all pre-arranged prior to his birth. That due to being a unwed mother she was influenced by her family to give baby up for adoption. Also rumored that my grandparents followed both parents social lives and education prior to the adoption to decided possible behavior intelligence and so forth. Wayne was born and after three days of observation he was adopted and taken home. I found my grandparents, their son Michael & my father (adopted) in a census in Colorado.

I managed to get an original birth certificate, but am unsure if the information is accurate for the birth father. I have searched the adoption records in Denver Juvenile Court since they are open records now. They did not find any related to my grandmother. I have also checked with Catholic Charities with no luck. There doesn't appear to be an actual adoption. The only birth certificate that I can locate is the original, not the amended. According to the birth certificate, the birth mother's name is listed "Evelyn Louise Yakas". However, I know for a fact that Evelyn's maiden name is "Qualls". The birth father listed on the birth certificate is "John Harvey Qualls". I am thinking it is possible that the last names were switched on the birth certificate. According to the birth certificate, the birth father was 28 years old at the time of my grandmother's birth in 1943. It also says that he was deceased. He was born in Indianapolis. (Update) Birth mother was 19 years old at time of birth. She was born on 10-?-1923 in Kansas. Lulu Jean Fall is 5'6" tall, with brown eyes and brown hair.

All Other Information: My mother surrendered a baby girl for adoption. The adoption was finalized on 4-21-1951. The judge's name was Gilliam. My mother now suffers from the early stages of Alzheimer's disease so some of the info such as date of birth and the birth father's name is limited. My mother was married briefly to a man named Foulger. This reportedly is not the father of the baby. There are two other possibilities for the father. Raymond Worrell and Harold Unander. It has been told that my mother keep the baby for one month at the home for unwed mother's in Denver (we think it was the Florence Critention Home) before she surrendered it for adoption. My grand mother looked for the baby and tried to adopt it to raise as her own. The judge wrote my grand mother back and said that the baby's adoption was final and that it was already in a fine home. There are stories of her going from Denver to Montana to look for some reason. She may have found something that lead her to go there. When my mother was hospitalized recently for Alzheimer's disease, she kept repeating a story about when she was young how she was in Denver pregnant and adopted out a baby girl. She mistakenly thought that I was that baby. She insisted that I was born in Denver and not in Nerw Haven, CT. When cleaning out her apartment so that she could move in with me when she was discharged, I found two postcards postdated Denver Oct. and Nov. 1950. One asked for her SS card. The other asked for her snow boots and mentioned how she didn't have many friends here, but the girl next to her was nice. I called my eldest cousin who happens to be two years older than my mother. I asked her why was my mother in Denver in 1950. At first she didn't want to tell me. Then I told her I thought I knew why, and that I thought my mother may have had a baby out of wedlock. Then she came out and told me it was true. She told me all about my grand mother searching for the baby. She also told me that a young woman came to her mother's door in 1970 in Washington state thinking that she might be her birth mother. My aunt sent her away without getting her name and forgetting that her sister had given up a baby for adoption. My other cousin had a letter in his possession since his mother's death. She was my mother's only full blooded sister. My grand mother gave it to her upon her death. This is the letter from the judge that told my grandmother the adoption was final. Update the baby was given the name of Anita Foulger at birth. The father of the baby girl was Howard L. Foulger to whom she was married to for only three months.

Adoption papers say my name was Baby Girl Balk so I'm wondering if my birth mother's married name was Balk. I applied to the Colorado State Registrar of Vital Statistics to access my original birth certificate and they said they were unable to locate an adoption file. They did show my birth mother's maiden name was V. M. Copeman, birth father's name was N/A, date filed was 4-2-1952 and State File Number was 6060. My adopted mother once told me that I was the product of an affair. My birth mother's husband was serving in the Korean War when she became pregnant with me. That is all I know. I have a small book from the Colorado State Children’s Home, 2305 S. Washington, Denver, CO (I don't believe it is there anymore) and there are a few entry's which look like checkup visits. I believe my adopted mother told me I was adopted right from the hospital. Apparently I was very small and they wouldn't release me until I gained some weight. Today I am 5'0" tall, 100 lbs. I have sent in my saliva sample to Ancestry DNA and it is being processed.

All Other Information: Searching for my father's birth family, especially birth siblings. My father is Aaron Keith Storms, born Aaron Wallace Herndon. We were told that he had an older birth brother, Jimmy, a younger birth brother, Randy, that lives in Springfield / Lamar, CO, and 2 birth sisters that live in Lamar, CO. My father and his younger sister, Gayle, were adopted around 1962, probably in Springfield, CO, where he was born. He was 4 or 5 years old, and Gayle was probably 2 or 3 years old ?. He remembers going to the lawyer's office for the adoption, and then going out for ice cream afterwards to celebrate. The story goes, that my adoptive grandparents, Robert and Irene Storms, who pastored the Springfield Friends Church in Springfield, CO, used to babysit Aaron and Gayle. We were told that the birth mother, Melba June Herndon, lived two blocks from the church, and was about to move again. Robert and Irene asked Melba to let them adopt Aaron and Gayle, and she was unwilling at first, but finally agreed. My dad and I sent away for a copy of his original birth certificate this year, a copy of which we now have.That's how we know his birth mother's full name. It says her age at his birth was 24 years old, and her birthplace was Colorado. It's hard to read but I think she resided in Springfield, CO, Baca County, when she gave birth to Aaron; it lists Box 353 in Springfield, probably as her address. It says 3 other children were living at the time of his birth. (Aaron's sister, Gayle, is two years younger than my dad, and we were told had a different birth father than Aaron did. Her first name was always Gayle, but her middle name may have been changed; her legal name ended up being Gayle Mardell Storms, and she married Jeff Brown, so today her name is Gayle Mardell Brown and she lives on a farm outside of Leoti, KS. Her birthday is 6-16-1959 ?.) I believe the info I've heard about Aaron's birth father was that he was in the Navy and was home on leave, and may not even know he had a birth son. My dad does not remember any other children besides Gayle around, so I'm not sure where the 3 living children were while he was with his birth mother for his first 4-5 years. I heard that maybe Melba had a dozen children and gave them all up for adoption, which seems a little unlikely. I started an ancestry.com account recently (my DNA test is currently in lab processing), and have been able to find what I think is some reliable info about some of Melba's relatives (she lived with her uncle Ralph Herndon's family for a while when she was about 12 or 13 years old), however, have had no luck finding info on her other children or if she's still living or not. I believe her father was James Alvin Herndon d.o.b. 2-13-1886 – d.o.d. 12-19-1957, her mother was probably Nona Nine Prikett, d.o.b. 9-12-1910 d.o.d. 11-4-1978, both of whom I think are buried in Lamar, Prowers County, CO or Springfield, CO area. One census in 1940 in Springfield, Baca, Colorado lists her father, James Alvin "Jim" Herndon as divorced and 54 years old, and his children were Pat Herndon (age 11 years old), Hoot Herndon (age 9 years old), and Melba June Herndon (age 7 years old). I was able to find that Hoot Wallace Herndon raced horses and died in Hot Springs, Arkansas on 3-4-2003. And a Hot Springs, Arkansas city directory in ?-?-1957 appears to list Melba as living with her older brother Hoot at r123 Henderson. Which is strange because that's the same year she gave birth to Aaron in CO. My dad, Aaron, and his sister Gayle, agreed a long time ago not to dig into their birth family information (Gayle had a friend that found her birth mother and it ended up being a terrible situation, so she's against doing so for her own birth family. My dad's biggest concern was hurting the feelings of his adoptive parents, who raised him. But after my adoptive grandparents passed away recently, I convinced my dad to apply for a copy of his original birth certificate so that I could create a family tree, and he agreed to let me research as long as I did not try to call or contact any of his birth family directly. My goal is to find out as much as I can about his birth family, present it to him as I have so far, and let him decide if he wants to contact his birth siblings. I have not told Gayle that I'm doing this research, as I'm sure she'd be against it. But it's my own family too, and I want to give my dad the opportunity to meet his birth siblings if we're able to find them, especially because there are so many. Even just finding a photograph of his birth mother or birth siblings would be Amazing!!!! The one picture I found on ancestry.com of Hoot Wallace Herndon, my dad's uncle, looks a lot like my aunt Gayle. It appears on ancestry.com that the names Wallace and Gayle are family names, so I'm sure I'm on the right track. But I don't know where to go from here. Ancestry suggests that Melba may have married someone named Dean Patterson Fuerst in Los Angeles, CA on 9-10-1954, but I'm not sure it's the right Melba. I also found an obituary for Laura Sue Fuerst Mizell in the Adams County Record 6-16-2011, which may have been Melba's sister-in-law, and it lists a surviving sister-in-law named "Melba Jean Herndon Fuerst" of Dewey, Arizona. There is a living Mr. and Mrs. Fuerst residing at 10803 Singletree Trail in Dewey, Arizona but I'm not sure it's the right person, and I'm not supposed to call any relatives, anyway. I'm stuck. And if we don't find Melba, I'm afraid I'll never find the identity of my dad's birth father. (Update) Aaron is 6'1" tall, 185 lbs., fair skin, with brown eyes and light brown hair. we were told that his birth mother, Melba, had red hair. My dad's younger birth sister, Gayle, inherited this red hair from Melba, even though she had a different birth father than Aaron.

All Other Information: Birth mother has been located by WY CI. Birth mother is deceased at time of find. Half brother and half sister located. Both with different birth fathers. I have had my case assigned to 2 CIs in WY. The first gave me non-ID info about birth father, but was never able to get to Denver to continue search. The second CI communicates with me very little, and does not seem to have done anything yet. I have been searching since ?-?-2002. My daughter has been sick since 12-?-2007, and diagnosis has been difficult. Possible diagnosis of Lupus, but unconclusive. My birth mother died of ovarian cancer, and in doing research I found that some Jewish populations are at high risk. I would really like medical records if nothing else.
