All Other Information: (Update) We have no info on birth parents. Joshua Morgan we believe that he might have had red hair ?. Joshua Morgan was born in Hickman County, Tennessee on 1-1-1818. We think his father died about ?-?-1826 ? or thereabouts, which would have made Joshua around 8 years old. Hickman County, Tennessee's courthouse was burned in ?-?-1866 (Civil War) I think. Court records were destroyed. In the "goode olde' days" sometimes the adoptive family just took the child home with them. We believe that Joshua's birth father was named John Morgan, and the adoptive family was the James Lewis family. All this taking place in Hickman County, Tennessee. We think the Lewis family moved to Missouri by 1830. Haven't checked their census for Missouri, but did check Tennessee's, and by 1830 they are gone from Tennessee.

All Other Information: This surname at that time was spelled several ways. Shinpaugh, Shinpock, Shinpaw. Elizabeth McDaniel Shinpaugh adopted a boy, William Shinpaugh, in ?-?-1818. This was 4 years after her husband, Henry Shinpaugh had died. So we don't know if she was the birth Mother or not. Our records simply say that she "acquired" a baby boy that she named William Shinpaugh. I am descended from him. Death records from 1818 in Roane County might be helpful; maybe the baby was "acquired" because of death. William Shinpaugh (the adoptee) was buried at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He died in 1903.

All Other Information: My grandfather, Mark Clinton Smith, was born on 5-5-1880 in Nashville, TN, per his social security documents. He told my mother (gone) that the family who took him in (yes, it could have been undocumented or a casual switcheroo) included a "kind Aunt Mary", and while he named his first female for his wife (Jane), his second daughter was named "Mary" for this aunt. His SS document lists his birth mother's name as: Mary E Chastain Christin Shasteen and all variations... and his birth father as John Smith. I have done DNA testing and found a few family, but don't know how to find proof, so far after the fact. In the family where I match DNA, there is a Mary Chastain, botn 1858-1859-ish, who married a John C Smith, in 1892. If she IS the birth mother, it's possible she had a child with him before the marriage... Or, again, if she is, did she have a child with someone else, and gave a Smith name for anonymity ? Or, was it a Smith ?. These above Smith and Chastain families lived in the middle Tennessee area, Tullahoma, Coffee County, Grundy County, Franklin County... The one Mary Chastain mentioned, had a niece who married a Daniel Rufus Smith, and I have a DNA connection to a grandchild of his brother... Scientifically, that means that any sibling of either the Smith or Chastain person I think may be parents, might have conceived my grandfather. The first Census information I have found that includes him (as Mark Clinton Smith) is 1910, at age 29, in Chicago, as a boarder, working as an estimator at a construction materials company. (Update) Mark had blue eyes and black hair. I've tested with Ancestry, Family Tree DNA and MyHeritage. My results are there, and all three are also on GedMatch.

All Other Information: Death certificate states he was born in Tennessee with unknown Beck for his birth father and unavailable for his birth mother, he lived his life in the area of Parma / Risco, Missouri. Family has said he may have been a Watson by birth but there is no confirmation of that information to be found all just hear say information. Unaka Color - white Age at Last Birthday - 39 Occupation - Advertizer (line 14) lines 15, 16 and 17 are not filled in they ask for Industry, date last engaged in this work, Total time spent in this work. Mother - Florence M Dumble Residence - 219 Unaka Color - white Age at last birthday - 27 Occupation - Housewife I still have not received anything from Catholic Social Services about Mom's records there. Both my sister and myself have a rare congenital, inherited pulmonary (lung) disorder called Bullous Emphysema. It does not run on my father's side of the family. My Mother was told the entire time that she was at St. Mary's Home here in Mobile that something horrible had happened and that is how she came to live there. The Nuns also told her that it would be in her best interest never to look for her birth family. As far as I know she never did. My parents always assumed that she was born to a young unwed mother or some other harmless circumstance and were very involved with raising their own family and living their own lives. My father died 3-14-1991. At that time I had to get birth verification for my Mother to receive his RR Retirement. I kept those papers and that is where I started this search. My Mother was diagnosed with Altzheimer's Disease in ?-?-1996 and died 6-25-2005. I was her caretaker and watched this amazing woman regress to the point of childhood. I would watch her many times and wonder what she was like as a child. I "played" with my mother and listened as she made up wonderful stories.During this time I won dered what she was really like as a child. I have no pictures of her or any history except for what she shared with us about her life in the orphanage. She went into a catatonic state for 1 1/2 years in the last part of her illness during which time she never spoke a word. She was hospitalized for a serious urinary tract infection and I stayed with her while she was in the hospital. She started babbling an unitelligible banter but her facial expression would change and the inflection in her voice would change. She would pause as if listening to some unseen guest and then she would babble again. Sometimes she would have a question to the quality of her speech and sometimes she would giggle. Sometimes she would motion with her hands and sometimes she would cry. I could not believe what I was seeing. I was told to call my family and so I did. My sister flew in from Jacksonville, FL. However the 2 days later Mom was released from the hospital. Her "delusions" continued however and my sister and I were in the room with her when the "conversation" started again. At this point I asked my Mother if she were talking to someone and this little contracted woman who had been catatonic for almost 18 months looked me dead in the eye and said, "Well, yes", as if I were an idiot for not knowing. I then asked her who it was and she responded "My Mother". There are many more details to this story but this is what planted the seed from which my quest grew. When my Mother passed I was determined to find out how she came to be in an orphanage in Mobile, AL when she was born in Tennessee. It seemed unlikely that a 3 year old child would be placed so far from family and never adopted to any one else. Here is what we know so far: Florence D Wells was 27 years old, married to William C Wells and on the 1930 census was shown to be living in Shelby County Tennesse with a 14 year old stepson from a previous marriage of William C Wells'. William C Wells was born in 7-?-1891. His father was from somewhere in AL. Florenence Dumble Wells was born in about ?-?-1903 and was the only child of Fred M Dumble and Mary Dumble. The stepson was born 2-25-1916. Fred M Dumbleand died 12-29-2005 in Pinellas County FL. I am in the process of contacting Pinellas Geneology society to have research done on my Mother's 1/2 brother. Catholic Social Services has still not contacted me with any information.

All Other Information: My father's birth mother was only listed on the adoption records was listed by aged 23 years old. At the time of inquiry, my birth father was still living. But he died in 2003. The birth father was unknown. I am trying to find out who my birth father's biological mother was so I can possible trace my biological family history through the Andrews lineage. My biological father died never knowing he was illegitimate. He thought he was given up for adoption after he was born, his biological mother dying during his birth and the youngest of 13 children from a share-croppers family. My biological father was mentally ill so telling him would have set him further into mental instability. But I still want to find out who his biological mother was to settle curiosity.

All Other Information: Baby boy born in Tennessee on 6-15-1937 to young unwed mother. He was taken by his adoptive (not legal ?) mother at 2 days old and we think he was named Anthony. The family was supposed to possible only foster and was definitely supposed to keep in touch but they did not follow through. We have been told that Anthony, may have gone by the name Tony, and he became a lawyer in Tennessee and was listed in the book "Best Lawyers In America" in maybe 1974 ? All Other Information: Twin boys were adopted one was born 11-23-1952 and the second 11-24-1952. I have very little information. I was given by the adoptive mother. This was my father who passed away in 1991. From what I remember being told, I think they were from Knoxville, Tennessee. They were adopted together. My grandmother told me the family had other children which I believe included another set of twins. The birth father was not at the house when My dad and uncle were picked up the birth mother said he had been gone a few days, which he did often. Any information will help. This is the first search I have started. My uncle is still alive but we do not have any communication. My grandfather passed away when the boys were 13 years old. My grandmother tried to give them the information about their birth parents but they didn't want any part of it. They were not told they were adopted until they were 13. I could be wrong but I want! to say that my grandmother said their birth last name was Jones, that is not for sure though, that is just a memory I have for some reason. My grandmother gave me this information when I was 13, which is the age I was when my father passed away. My grandparents where told about my Dad and Uncle through a family member, they knew of the family and knew they were struggling. I believe this was a private adoption, I do not know if any agencies or lawyers were involved. I am not aware of them giving any of the other children up for adoption either. I believe my grandmother said the birth mother was pregnant again when the adopted my dad and uncle. (Update) David Ray Worthen was around 6'2" tall, with brown eyes and his hair was brown with a red tint to it most often. His twin brother is still alive who now has salt and pepper hair. My uncles hair was always dark brown and he is also around 6'2" tall, they were both always slender.

Betty Jane is her birth mothers name (hearsay) she worked at a downtown bar in Nashville around the 1950's. My mother's birth father was blue eyes and blond hair like my mom and was said to have had an accident maybe a car accident and knows nothing of my mother. She did not give her current or adoptive name. There was also a local cert. # listed of 141-54-87265,- not sure what that means. She listed that she was taken home from the hospital by her adoptive parents at 3 or 4 days old and adoption was arranged by an attorney. I found out that her name may be Linda Bearden Barnett. I beleive that she may have married since 2009 and has a different surname now. I have not been able to find any more info. on her to date 8-25-2012. Both Evelyn Johnson Bearden 1-23-1919 and Griffin Bearden b. 1914 died in 1982. (Update) There were 8 or 9 of us given up by Evelyn over the years. All Other Information: I am looking for my father's biological mother and biological father. He was a male born 9-4-1957 in Memphis, TN possibly at Gaston Hospital (Regional One Health now) by a Dr. M.R. Baird. Adoption was very soon if not at birth in Memphis, TN. I am looking for his birth mother and birth father. The birth mother was younger and had a family member / friend that worked at Hunter Fan with my grandmother ask if my grandmother wanted to adopt the birth mother’s son. The biological mother had another child- a blonde haired daughter- a few years later and asked if my grandparents wanted to adopt her too, but they declined. There have been whispers that my grandfather fathered my dad with the young woman, but it has never been proven and my grandfather won’t talk about it. I do know that my grandmother and grandfather broke up immediately before my father was born, but got back together after he was born. (Which further supports this theory). (Update) Walter had brown eyes and his hair was blonde as a child and brown as an adult. I’ve ordered the AncestryDNA kit.
