All Other Information: I was born supposedly on 10-30-1960, at 12:36 p.m., at Columbia Hospital, now Richland Memorial, in Columbia, SC. Don't know if birth mom's parents changed birth date. Dr. J. A. Salley delivered me and I have contacted him, but his assistant couldn't find anything. She said my birth mom probably lived in the Maddie Derrick home before she gave birth. My birth mother was 19 years old when she had me. S.C. Dept of Social Services handled my adoption, after I had lived in a foster home for supposedly 6 mos. At that time I was known as "Baby Ginger". In the information I received from Margie W. Hodgin, Adoption Consultant with Dept of S.S., it was noted that my birth mom was late in her pregnancy when she informed her parents that she was pregnant. She thought she wanted to adopt me at first, but changed her mind several times. She finally went through with the adoption. Her family ties were strong, and her parents were understanding and sympathetic. Her parents paid for all the expenses, and gave her support, but encouraged the adoption. My mother was described to be an attractive person with light blond hair, large blue eyes, and a fair complexion. She did wear glasses. She is quite tall, 5'11" tall and about 132 lbs. When finished high school with average or slightly above average grades, but it was not known if she was employed. She was the oldest of four children. She had an outgoing personality and was very cooperative with everyone involved during her pregnancy. She liked to cook, to keep house, and enjoyed skating, swimming and table tennis. She was a member of a Baptist church and attended regularly. Her father was in his late forties at the time, and was 6'5" tall and about 215 lbs. He had black hair, blue eyes, and an olive complexion. Her mother was in her late thirties and completed the eighth grade. She was 5'9" tall and weighs something over 200 lbs. She has dark brown hair, blue eyes and fair complexion. Both of my birth mom's parents worked in the textile industry. My birth mom had two brothers and one sister. The oldest brother was 17 years old at the time. He had finished the 10th grade and was employed in textiles. He was 6'3" tall and weighed 170 lbs. He had dark brown hair gray eyes, and an olive complexion. Her sister was 16 years old and quit school to get married. The other brother was 12 years old and a student in the sixth grade. He had light blond hair, blue eyes, and a fair complexion. My birth mom remained in the maternity home for awhile after I was born, then moved back to her parents. My biological father was about 24 years old when I was born. He was married but had no children. He did not finish high school and worked in the textile industry (supposedly with her father). I was 6 lbs. 11 ounces at birth and was 19" long. I was described as having a small nose and mouth, a long thin face, small ears, and fair, beautiful complexion. All Other Information: My birth siblings and I are searching for our 1/2 birth sister who doesn’t even know we exist. Mary is the only child from my birth mother’s first marriage. She and her husband had marital problems. The husband took Mary from Florence, South Carolina to Georgia and placed her in a home or orphanage. In her late teens Mary tried finding her birth mother. She did get in contact with her family, aunts and uncles. They hadn’t seen their sister (Mary’s and our birth mother) since 1961. They felt like her husband may have killed her and may have told her that. They never heard from her again. But she did mail them pictures of herself and her 2 birth sons. She had told them a wonderful family had adopted her in Georgia. (Update) Birth mothers name was Barbara and we think the last name ends with a S..., She was 25 years old at time of birth on 1-5-1963, but only 24 years old a few months before when she contacted the agency. She stated that it was her first pregnancy, however, birth certificate shows there was one other pregnancy. For some reason my husbands adoptive parents think it was also a boy. Barbara had lived with her divorced brother, he was the only family member to know about the pregnancy. She was attended at the general hospital clinic and delivered at the hospital, responsible for her own bill. She signed the consent waiver on 1-7-1963. He was in foster care until adopted around April or May. Barbara was 5" tall, 100 lbs, medium fair complexion, blue eyes and "mousy" blond hair. She is a high school graduate, enjoys reading. Barbaras mother was 5'3" tall, 115 lbs., black hair, brown eyes, dark complexion, 10th grade education, and spends time at _________, which is used for watching forest fires. Barbaras father was 5'9" tall, 154 lbs., blue eyes and black hair, fair complexion. He worked in SC and enjoys hunting and fishing. Barbara had a brother who was 28 years old, 5'8" tall, 148 lbs., brown eyes and black hair, dark complexion, he was divorced at the time with a 6 year old son. She had 4 sisters. Sister #1 was 26 years old, 5'3" tall, 115 lbs., brown eyes and black hair, dark complexion. She was married with one son at the time, he seems to be normal. She worked in SC and her husband worked in textile. She stopped school in 11th grade. Sister #2 was 22 years old, 5'2" tall, 105 lbs., brown eyes and black hair, dark complexion. She was married with a son and daughter, who appear to be normal. We think this sisters name starts with a "J". Her husband was in textile and she did graduate. Sister #3 was 17 years old, 5'3" tall, 120 lbs., brown eyes and black hair, fair complexion. She lived with her parents and was in 12th grade when Barbara gave birth. She's quiet, makes good grades and loves to read and sew. Sister #4 was 13 years old, average size, blue eyes and blond hair, fair complexion. She was in 8th grade and likes sports and dancing. It states that Barbara had nephew that had a growth on his vocal cords and had to wear a tube inserted in his throat so he could breath. Her parents were originally from Tennessee and still had relatives there. Not much on birth father, he was 29 years old and originally from Tennessee. He was 6' tall, 165 lbs., brown eyes and "jet" black hair, dark complexion. He liked to travel and draw. He was a high school graduate and was in the Air Force for several years, then in the Navy. At the time she got pregnant he was seperated from his wife, but were living together again by the time of the birth. They had no children at the time. He knew about the pregnancy, but she felt he had taken no responsibility. She describes him as the "romeo type". He had several brother and sisters, all in Tennessee. His gret grandfather was a full blooded American Indian. If I find anything else I will let you know. Correction: birth certificate states my husband was born in Greenville, SC, Greenville County.

She had fair to medium complexion, with blue eyes and brown curly hair. She lived mostly with her maternal grandparents. She went to Maternity home for prenatal care. The birth father was 20 years old, single and of Baptist faith. He had a traveling job either as a project operator or a carpenter for a construction firm. All Other Information: Both of my adopted parents are now passed. When I was 16 years old I found some adoption papers in a filing cabinet but when I went back to look through them they were gone. I was never told I was adopted but some friends of mine had heard about it through their grandparents. I of course questioned my adoptive parents and was told no I was not adopted. I look nothing like my adoptive parents. After my adoptive parents passed I asked the only relative that I knew could help me and she said yes I was adopted and this is the only thing I was told: I was born at Spartanburg General Hospital at 5:07 p.m. I know my birth mother had long black hair and was very tall. I was told I had several other birth siblings but my "birth" father was hardly in the picture and it was decided that they could not afford another mouth to feed. I know my adoptive mother worked at the hospital as a nurse’s aide and I know she saw my actual birth mother even though she was not supposed to be in the room where she was she went in there anyway. I know the adoption had to be handled by a lawyer of some sort in Spartanburg county since when I was looking real fast through the papers there was a lot of them. I am guessing they was destroyed over time so I would not find them again. I am 48 years old. 5'9” tall and weigh 155 lbs. I have brown eyes and brown hair. There are no birthmarks or any other thing that would make me stand out. I now have two sons of my own and know nothing of my history background so I hope somebody out there knows something and can help.

I was told by my aoptive mother that my birth mother was around 14 years old when she had me and could not provide the medical surgery I required. She gave me up for adoption and the state (SC) took over control of me. I have looked at my birth certificate and the information has been marked over and blocked with a statement showing no information is available. (Update) A "Special referee & Hearing Officer" made a report for the state indicting the adoption was a good idea, but I have as of yet found such a report. The surgery was performed twice (once at 2 years old and again at 40). I now have a son (17) and we want to know more about my birth family so he will know his medical background. (Update) My eyes are green, hair strawberry blonde.

Beer, Captain MC USN in my birth mothers questionnaire for mothers she states I was due on 9-15-1968 but my birth date is 8-14-1968. Her religion at the time was catholic she obviously converted I also have a copy of the adoption decree in where the adoption was finalized and my name was baby Catherine at the time and was legally changed to my name from my adopted parents. Adoption order signed on 9-19-1969 by Judge James B. Morrison Ninth Judicial Circuit in the Court of Common Pleas Charleston County, Charleston, SC My birth mother was a student at the University of Maryland and listed herself as a junior and stated that birth father was a student there also in his first year. Birth mother was involved in the German American Club, Terrapin Ski Team, National Honor Society, Debate Team, History major, minor in foreign language birth father was on soccer team and tennis player. He was born in Germany. He was Protestant, 1 year of college not helping with any expenses for her nor no plans to marry what so ever. She states he is an English major minor in sports. His mother was born in Nuremberg, Germany and his father was born in USA and an officer in the Army. birth father favorite past time is skiing and he played soccer for University of Maryland in 1968. Birth mother came to the Charleston House on the Charleston Air force base Room 527 is where she stayed and was on 7-23-1968 when she filled out forms from Catholic Charities. Birth mother date of Birth was 4-17-1948 born in New York, NY. Birth mother parents her mother was born in Minn. on 1-7-1923 Birth mother father was born in Baltimore Maryland, in Aug. of 1920 Her father was killed in auto accident in 1948. Birth mother's mother was in Navy and out in 1945. Her parents were married in First Baptist Virginia 12-8-1945 Birth mother listed her previous address as Nevada City, CA before going to Charleston House to have me. All Other Information: My birth mother stayed at the Florence Crittenton home in Charleston, SC. She was an entertainment director at a military base and met my birth father when his band visited the base. She did not know she was pregnant when his band moved on. She wanted to keep me but felt she would not be able to provide the life she wanted for me. She was 31 years old when I was born. I received non-identifying birth information many years ago but I want to know medical history and what she looks like. Where do I get my skin, hair, eyes from. ? All Other Information: My son's father and I are searching for any information about him. We have received very little information through NC Department of Social Service. We do know that he was alive and well at the age of 14 months but that is all the information we have been allowed to have access to. We have tried to get family medical information through to him and are told that the state is trying to get the information to him. I do, however, think that our son has the right to ask us whatever questions he might have and to say anything he wishes to us. If he never knows anything else, we would like him to know of our love for him. We recently received information that the letter of medical history was delivered to his parents and they called DSS to express their gratitude. Saying that they would give the information to our son, they did not mention his name or current location. The ball is now in his court so we are waiting, however impatiently, for him to attempt to find us If anyone can help us find our son, we would be eternally grateful!.
