All Other Information: Searching for information on the adoption of a white female with the last name of Hardesty (age unknown) who was placed in the Bell Home for Children, which later became the Episcopal Home for Children in Washington D.C. sometime between ?-?-1904 to ?-?-1910 ?. Her birth bother was my birth father George Hardesty who was in the home in the 1910 Censes but there was no female with a last name of Hardesty in the 1910 Censes. What my mother was told 2 weeks before my father passed away was: He and his birth sister had been placed in the Bell Home because their birth parents had neglected them and the and were taken away by the "state / district". I have not been able to find any birth certificate on my birth father but all indications are he was born in the District of Columbia around ?-?-1904 with the name George Hardesty. He had taken the name Brown (never adopted) from a family in Culpepper, VA. who had a farm he lived on for a number of years (found in the 1920 Censes) with the name Hardesty later found in the 1930 Censes with the name George Brown in New York City. At one time the Episcopal Home for Children had the documents and that the documents were with the 1964 secretary of a group in Episcopalian Church called the Daughter of the King. I would think that if someone had the records of the Bell Home / Episcopal Home for Children there would be adoption information in those records.

All Other Information: The 1910 census has the adoptive parents living in Beltsville, MD. They were married 2 years. I'm trying to find adoption papers or documents to confirm the adoption. I can't find the adoptive parents or Charlotte in the 1920 census. I think the birth mother may have died in the early 1900's. The birth father joined the army in 1905. Charlotte had an older brother, Rubin, who died in WWI. After 1930 the picture is clearer for Charlotte. She became my step grandmother. I am not able to trace the Smiths after the 1910 census. I would like to know what happened to them. (Update) Birth mother was 21 years old, Birth father was 25 years old. Charlotte was 5'7" tall, as an adult, with blue eyes and dark brown hair. All Other Information: Hello My name is Becky and I am researching my Grandfather’s life. His name is Raymond Spalding and his date of birth is 10-28-1904, and he passed away a long time ago. Birth mothers name was Alice on his death certificate. His birth father's name was George Spalding, on his death certificate, they were both were from New York according to the death certificate. I was told many years ago his birth mother couldn't afford to keep all the kids so she left all the kids except the baby at the orphanage. On the 1910 Census it finds him at the Nursery and Child’s Hospital on Franklin St in Baltimore, Maryland. My Grandpa’s daughter, (my Mom) died when I was 24 years old and she never spoke of him much except to say his Mom left him at an orphanage. Grandpa’s wife has passed on and all his other children who all have passed on I never knew. I want to find out about my Grandpa for myself and my daughter who is starting to ask questions. Like did he have brothers and sisters, their full names and ages if available. His birth mother and birth father’s full names and addresses. Birth certificate ?. Why he was left at the orphanage. Our Mother never told any of us children about him until she was close to death, and only then was half truths. He could of been adopted in NY, NJ, CT, even MD, DC. My mothers husband was in the PI at the time of this birth, no way was he the father, she could not let him come back to the States and her with a child not his. I do have the adoption paperwork and the birth mother's name is listed as Judy Guddy, but I've not been able to find her in any census info. My dad was told that her family was from Lithuania. This may be true, as I've found some Lithuania relatives through 23&Me and Gedmatch. These relatives are too distant though and didn't know anyone with the last name of Guddy. I know that she lived in Elkton, MD for a while before giving my dad to friends because she couldn't take care of him anymore.

All Other Information: Searching for my half-birth sister or any of the other four birth siblings removed from their mothers home by Baltimore Dept. of Social Services. Five siblings were removed and apparently put up for adoption. This was not an infant adoption. I have found the birth mother's family. Birth mother passed away in 1992. Birth father passed away in 2000. I have contact with birth mother's other children. They were unaware of the 5 siblings removed from their mother's care, until after her death and a relative told them of the other children. The birth family of the mother has not been real forth coming with information. I've try tried to get dates of birth for all the children, because the MD DHS Adoption and Reunion Office has said that if I could find one of the removed children, then they could help with the search. My father said he was 17 years old when she was born. His d.o.b. was 6-22-1933, so that would mean ?-?-1950 to ?-?-1951 ?. Dad joined the service in 8-?-1950 ?. He thought Shirley Ann was born in the spring. He also made a statement that while back in MD he visited Madeleine and Shirley was running around. He also said that Madeleine informed him of Social Services plan to remove all her children. I believed this took place after he was discharged from the army – 8-?-1953 ?. He then left Maryland and moved to Wisconsin, because he was married to my mother. (Update) I believe my father said Shirley Ann had brown hair, and I thought brown eyes, but I'm not positive. Birth father was 6'1" tall, with brown eyes and very dark brown hair. Grandma Lee was short and very big busted. I am 5'9" tall, with blue eyes and brown hair. My brother is 5'11" tall, with blue eyes and brown hair. My brother and I both have a congenital eye condition called Duanes Syndrome, which is generally a left eye problem. It is believed it comes from my grandma Lee's side of the family. The eye doesn't move properly. Sometimes called lazy eye.

All Other Information: So far, I have no indication that a legal adoption took place. Hospital records state that I "left" the hospital on 12-22-1950. My adoptive mother said she brought me home on 12-24-1950. An elderly social worker said that gray market adoptions frequently took place in Baltimore until 1970. Over twenty years ago, I contacted the doctor that took over the practice from the doctor who delivered. His receptionist told me that the doctor of delivery took care of the women who did not keep their babies. I was asked to call back, but when I did, the doctor refused to talk to me. In the background I heard him say he didn't want to talk to me because that baby died. I stopped searching for years. (Update) I have brown curly hair and hazel eyes. My birth certificate says white, but all of the ancestry DNA tests says white (European) with a trace of Native American. My birth father might have been a "blonde" Puerto Rican. My birth mother might have been Barbara Jean Goodwin (maiden name) and 17 at the time of my birth, but I'm not sure about my birth parents. Barbara Jean had brown hair and blue eyes. She had two children from 2 different marriages: Robert E. Davies and Melanie Millhauser Bennet.

I have found through Ancestry that I have 5 living half birth siblings and 1 deceased birth sibling. Audrey was caught in an adoption ring in Baltimore in the late 50's. I am 52 % Jewish which appears to come from the birth father. the 2 sisters younger than me were adopted and raised by Jewish families. The ring was run by Al and Peg Rosenberg and a Dr. Miller was involved. There were 4 women. the first child and the second that we know of were raised by family members we believe. All Other Information: My father had a daughter supposingly in 1954 possibly May same age as me. I heard she was a teacher at Towson State Univ. It was siggested to me she may be my twin but I don't think so. I thought my dad's affair was with someone by the name of Rose and that the baby was given the name Candice or Candy. But I am not sure that is correct. My dad's birth day was 10-16-1929. He passed away 6 years ago and I was told this info. before he died. I am estranged from my mom and family and they know who she is but kept this from me because they did not want me to know who she was for whatever reasons they said cause it would hurt my mom. I feel they are hiding something in refernce to this person that is overwhelming to me. I just want to know my sister. I loved my Dad very much and I miss him. I just want to meet her if she wants. My birth mother had to quit school when she was in the 8th grade because her mother died and had to care for her brothers and sister. She was married to Maurice Erman in 1948 and divorced in 1952. She and Maurice lived on Erdman Ave. My birth father worked down at Sparrows Point, Maryland he was a pipe fitter and lived on Plainfield Road in Dundalk, Maryland. I was told that Birdella"s labor was hard and long and I was a scrawny baby. I was bornearly in the morning, but was not sent to St. Vincent's until a week later on 1-19-1955. My adoption was not finalized until 5-?-1955. I am now the mother of 4 birth children and 2 step. I have raised or had something to do with raising 10 children. (Update) I think my birth mother was 31 and birth father was 34. I am 5'1" tall and I have green eyes and brown hair (light). Don't know about my birth parents. All Other Information: Adopted in 7-?-1956. (Update) I was born on 2-16-1956 at Mercy Hospital. On 2-20-1956 I was transferred to the St. Vincent's Infant Home (Catholic Charities) and was there until I was adopted 10-?-1956. Birth mother was in her late 20's when I was born. So her birth year was 1931-1936. She was not married at the time of my birth and my birth father (who was a car mechanic in his 30's was not aware of the pregnancy). My birth mother worked for a short time as a photographer's assistant. She was married for the first time at 15 years old. Her parents has the marriage annulled soon after. She remarried a few years later and then was divorced a little over a year after this marriage. She was pregnant at the time of the divorce. She gave custody of the child (a boy)to her ex-husband. Two years later she had another child (a girl) and gave her to her ex-husband also. And two years after that she had another child (a boy) and have him to the ex-husband. Six years later she became pregnant with me and gave me up for adoption through Catholic Charities. I have no other information other than what is above.

All Other Information: Needing my dads birth certificate. Both adoptive parents are passed away. Me and my dad have done dna tests on Ancestry DNA. Some possible relatives with last name Mabe have been seen. Was told that his birth mothers last name was Curl, not sure. Two possible scenarios have been heard. My dads father had an affair on his wife and got a woman pregnant and my dads dad and his wife adopted my dad because the mother didn’t / couldn’t take care of him. Another story told by my dad possible half or adopted brother is when he was 10 years old, he was told that his mom was babysitting my dad and that the mother never returned for him and they adopted him. Not sure which is true. When searching for birth certificate on Ancestry DNA nothing comes up for his name using Robinson or Curl. And can’t find anything using his birthday. He does have id stating Robinson as his last name and that exact birthday.

Edmond Lafferty and his wife adopted Charles when he was left at the orphanage at age 6 years old Charles told the nuns about Mary and they found her at Rieterstown Orphanage and alerted the Lafferty's. I feel they must have handled Edward Joseph as well. Charles name was changed to Charles Neil Lafferty. Mary's name was changed to Mary Teresa Lafferty.
