All Other Information: I am desperately looking for my birth mother and birth father. Any birth siblings, cousins...medical history. Anything. I appreciate any help anyone can provide and thank you for having this site in order to do so. My story is an interesting one. It's also odd and I will try my best to provide what I can here, but if any other information is needed let me know, I can try to find anything I may leave out. I have posted to numerous facebook Korean Adoptee pages. I have had my DNA done at 23andme and have access to the data if needed. I have the following paperwork: statement of release for adoption, application for certificate of appointment to guardian of minor orphan in orphanage, extract of family member, certificate of adoption and the physical report examination paperwork. The agency is Post Adoption Services, Social Welfare Society. There are a lot of unknowns. Physician, maternity home, county...basically everything about BP (birth parents). My adoption has two stories. This happens in 1976. The agency says I was found on the street by police but my adoptive mother said I was born in a hospital with the information I've listed above. Here is what she says: my birth father was an American soldier stationed in Korea who got my birth mother pregnant and then left back for the US. My birth mother was in her 20's and going to school. Her family had money because they bought her a hospital room, I guess they have her choice of having me and losing them or giving me up and being accepted back into her family. She stayed an extra day because she needed stitches. My adoptive mother adds: Your birth mother lived with a maid on the American compound during her pregnancy and she (Ms. Pak) first told us about you and we said that we wanted to adopt you. This was in early September. We contacted SWS and Mr. Yoo came out and did our home study. He also told us that he had met with your birth mother and had the parental rights relinquishment signed. On 9-26 Ms Pak told us that your birth mother was in labor (in the mid-morning) and said she would let us know when you were born. When she got to work on Tues. morning she asked the lady she worked for (Mrs. Lauzon) to call us and tell us that we had a son. She also said that we would need to go to the hospital that night and pick you up. I called Dad right away and he was thrilled! She also said that you had been born at 7:30 p.m. the night before. Ms. Pak rode in a taxi with us to the hospital that night, she went in with the clothes I had brought for you to wear home and came out with you about 20 minutes later. Your birth mother had a difficult delivery (you weighed almost 8 lbs., and she was small) so she was staying in the hospital, but usually Korean women at that time only stayed one day. While in the hospital you had been given the vaccine for tuberculosis which is given to all Korean babies. That is noted on your shot record and is the reason you can't ever have a Tine Test (it will always show positive). The bracelet with your birth mother's name on it was on you when Ms. Pak picked you up from the nursery. Hope this helps. Here is the story from the agency: In response to your request, I’ve attached the documents that our agency carries. As you see them, there is no information of your birth mother. The record shows that you were referred to our agency through police station in Daegu. I have no idea why your adoption background on the record is different with the story that your adoptive mother said. I’m so sorry not to give you a clear answer. Anyhow, I already asked KAS to track down your birth mother, based on her information that you have (your birth mother’s name and age) and I’m waiting to hear back from KAS. I’ll get back to you as soon as I have any news from KAS. I wish that I could give you a good news next time. As you can see this is a mess. I have tried for many years and am slowly giving up. I understand the challenge here - and wishing for the best. I have paperwork as PDF's to share.
