All Other Information: I want to know how my grandfather was adopted. I have always been told his birth parents died in a train accident, but I have never found any record of a train wreck during this time and after years of searching. His mother, Amanda Hartell, died at 27 in Pierce County, Washington on 5-29-1917. I cannot find any death certificate of his birth father, Stephan Hartell. It is as if he had vanished after 1917. My grandfather's adopted name is Frank Nugent. The name Frank Nugent turns up in Portland, Oregon on the 1920 census. He is the correct age. However, it is odd. Frank turns up under the household of William Grimes on Third Street. In the household, William Grimes has a relative, a divorced Louise Nugent. Although, there is no record of a Louise Nugent getting married or divorced in that area at that time. The record shows Frank is 7 with two other children, 6 and 3. Those children share the names of Louise's 20+! year old siblings. There is record of Louise Nugent marrying Dudley McCann about the same time (10 days later on the census) and they magically have two children, aged 6 and 3, with no record of birth. Frank Nugent shows up at the same time (again, 10 days later on the census) in Louise's brother's house with his adoptive parents, Frank and Marjorie Nugent. What is the association Louise has with William Grimes ?. Did he sell these children to Louise and her brother, Frank ?. Frank J. Nugent and his wife, Marjorie or Margaret Nugent, (the adoptive parents) had a still born in 1913. So, perhaps they were unable to have a child and wanted one. (Update) The birth mother was 24 years old at time of birth (at best guess). The birth father was 39 years old (at best guess) Frank had dark brown eyes and dark brown hair.

All Other Information: The adopted girl was my birth mother. I am trying to find more complete info about her birth parents, so I can find unknown birth relatives of mine. I have a Certified Copy of Birth Certificate issued by the city of Tacoma Dept. of Health and Sanitation on 7-2-1942 for her. I believe that she was probably born at the White Shield Home for Unwed Mothers in Tacoma, and their records may have more complete info. The certificate only states that Harry Johnson was 43, was a timber man (logger ?), and was born in Minnesota.A middle name and actual birth date would be very helpful. With that info I could find him on Ancestry or in marriage records - and then his descendants. There are a million Harry Johnsons, and his real name may have been Henry. I believe that her mother may be a dead end. I can't find a Kittie Arlene Kessner (age 15 years old at time of the birth, born in Virginia) anywhere. Thank you!. My aunt is Martha, my mother is Mary. Martha's adoptive mother was Allie Bradley. My mother had polio and numerous health issues / surgeries. I know their name before adoption was Smith. My daughter has inherited mental health issues that incapacitate her, my mother had cancer and glaucoma which I inherited. My brother has some dementia issues. I live in the Seattle, Washington area where my mother would have been raised (a transplant about six years ago) and my brother is on the East coast. My father has died and I did not grow up with him or his family as my parents were divorced when I was a small child. All Other Information: If this baby exists, she was stolen from her birth family and sold through a baby brokerage; and this would be a twin birth. Dr. John A Houck was the delivering doctor, assisted by his nurse Louella Muller. Both were later charged with baby brokering; and were killed together in a car wreck. Only in recent years have things come to light to suggest a twin may have been taken from the family. It is possible the baby was taken to BC Canada; as the doctor and nurse often went there clandestinely.

He was abandoned at the hospital and ended up in an orphanage and with some family friends maybe before being adopted by George and Helen Hall. I am on 23andme and found I have some Hispanic heritage which I have narrowed directly to my father's paternal side. The unknown birth father was likely around 50% Hispanic. All Other Information: (Update) Worked with W.A.R.M for 3 years before they gave up. Some of these answers came from them. W.A.R.M. took pic I supplied to geneology specialist. They said partially Alaskan Indian or American Indian. Birth mother approx 23 years old. Everything else unknown. I am 5'4" tall, I have grey eyes and black hair. My adoptive sister (not my birth sister) did a 20 year search through W.A.R.M and found her birth mother. She was a black market baby bought out of the Bess Gilroy Unwed Mothers Home in Seattle. They told her mother she had died at birth and sold her after her mother left. My brother-in-law wrote a short story which was posted on the web called Stolen At Birth By Peter Dixon which could give you more facts than I possibly could here. W.A.R.M said I came out of the same unwed mothers home.

All Other Information: I'm trying to find my mothers biological family her adoptive name was Marylynn Cartwright, her amended birth certificate states that it was just Mary. Her current name is Marylynn Ayers (She's been married for over 10 years) she was married to my father for 19 years and she was a Wayne then and prior to that she was a Stoner. She was born in Tacoma, WA on 12-28-1950. She could have been born in 2-?-1951 though, she was a very tiny baby when she was adopted. She was adopted by Andrew and Nellie Cartwright, their mailing address was Mt. Vernon, WA, but the foster home they ran was in Big Lake, WA, it was a big foster home at one point they had 13 children. Nellie was 43 when she adopted my mother which led my mom to believe that she might have been her sister in laws daughter, because at the time (I don't know about now) they didn't usually allow adoptions past the age of 40 let alone infants. She believes that her birth parents are possibly from LaConner or Anacortes, WA and possibly teenagers and one is Native American, because for one my mom looks Native American and there are a lot of Native American tribes in Washington. The adoption was finalized in ?-?-1951 or ?-?-1952 possibly August. The attorney was Stafford and the doctor was Butterfield or Butterworth (the birth certificate is hard to read) it was done through the Superior Court (we believe) in Mt. Vernon, WA. She has 2 adoptive brothers and 2 adoptive sisters. She has brown hair and brown eyes, shes 5'5, she considers herself white because she doesn't know what she really is, but she looks very much Native American. My father has now suffered a stoke, and live with diabetes, and high blood pressure. we are interested to know what else is coming. also, my son, his grandson suffers from unknown cause of seizure disorder, and other neurological disorders. not to mention the pure curiosity of where did we come from. thank you so much form any information. All Other Information: I received a letter from the Washington State Children's Home Society in Spokane Washington. The letter is (nonidentifying information from 9-12-1997) My Birthmother was 17 yrs old at time of birth. She left HS to go to work. Faith was Methodist. She has 2 sisters and 1 brother. One sister was married at the time of my birth w/ one child. My mothers sister was a waitress, sales clerk and a stenographer. The brother was 14 years old at my birth. The other sister lived w/ an Aunt and Uncle in another state. My Grandmother died in a car accident a few years before I was born. She was divorced at the time of my birth. When my grandmother died, my mother went to live w/ her father and stepmother. She did not get along w/ the stepmother and that's why she quit school and went to work. Shortly after my birth, my grandfather divorced his 3rd wife and no one knew where he was after that. I was born at 5:05 p.m. weighing 6 lbs. 12 oz. 19 Inches long. I do not know which hospital I was born in I was born with one of my feet turned out. My mother would come and give me my daily exercises in the nursery and on 5-8-1951 she went to court to read and sign relinquishment papers. She named me Dona Jean. I stayed with 2 foster families until 1-31-1952 when Ernest and Gay adopted me. The adoption was finalized on 2-6-1953. I lived on Park Road in the Valley until I was 12 years old. My adopted mother passed away on 8-1-1963 from a car accident. I was in the car with her and was not fatally injured. We moved shortly after her death to Great Falls Montana. All Other Information: I received info from state of Oregon that I have at least 8 siblings that were adopted in the Oregon ,Washington area. There are 3 siblings older than myself. Oregon lost track of my birth mother in approx 1958. At that time she was mid 30's. so there could be many more children by now. I would think since there are at least 8 sibling adoptions that were in this area that I would still have at least one or two that would live in the NW. I know my birth name was Anderson from a birth certif my adoptive parents gave me. The WA. courts had blacked out first names, etc, but the last name was visible. I requested non id info from WA.approx 10 years ago. I was told to go to court. Oregon did send me my info which is how I know about the many other adoptions. All the siblings have same birth parents, they lived in the Vancouver suburbs. my father was a logger ?, stay at home mother. I also know that at least 1 or 2 children were kept over the years that Oregon had contact with them. I had all my legal paperwork stolen with a safe and no longer have my birth certificate. I have sent for my non id info from the state of oregon again. I will update this site when I get the info back. Im sure there may be something Im forgetting to add. She told birth father's family I died at birth. She was 16, but had a daughter 2 years old that she kept. Interested in finding older sister-may be younger half-brothers also. Norma Jean Caton was born 4-25-1929 and died 12-7-1994 in Montana. (I don't know what city in Montana) She was born in Zinc, Boone, Arkansas. All Other Information: Together with my mother, Patricia Magers Anderson, we are desperately searching for her biological son born on 3-30-1958. My mother had this child when she was a teenager and was not allowed to even hold him. My mother does not know anything about the child's (my half-brother's) adoption. We are about 99% positive that the birth father's name is not on the birth certificate. Because of her age, she was not permitted to contact the birth father (who likely does not know he fathered a child). She does not remember what agency or what denomination it was but thinks it was religiously affiliated as she was sent to Seattle to live with a pastor and his wife during the pregnancy. My mom delivered her son at Women's and Children's Hospital in Seattle. The baby was taken away from her immediately. My mother has completed DNA profiles at Ancestry.com as well as 23&me but we've gotten no results so far. My mom is in her upper 70's. She was made to feel an immense amount of guilt and shame because of this situation. She would have kept the child if she could have but was too young and felt she had no options. She hopes to make contact with her birth son and have a relationship with him - as well as to explain to him why he was given up for adoption. Her name was Ada Beulah Vidmore. I have heard that she placed ad's in newspapers for adoption so I assume that is how my birth mother got connected to her. I was told by my adoptive father that my birth mother was from Canada, was about 5'7" tall and had long auburn colored hair. I have done DNA testing on Ancestry, Family Tree DNA and 23andme. According to DNA results, I am about 90% Eastern European. Most of my matches seem to be of Ukrainian / Polish ancestry. Most from an area known as Galacia.I have several of my closest matches who's families are from a small town outside of Edmonton, Alberta Canada called Two Hills, Alberta, Canada. Some of those families migrated to Vancouver, Canada. I have other matches with more of a Polish influence, who are from the areas of Michigan, New York and surrounding areas.

Spent several days in Childrens Orthopedic Hospital in an incubator with my adoptive mother attending. She was allowed to take me home after a few days. Non-identifying information includes: Birth mother's first name Sharon. medium build, 5'5", green eyes, dark hair, attractive. Born ?-?-1939 to ?-?-1941. Good grades and part time job in high school. Birth father was born ?-?-1939 to ?-?-1941, "college education continuing," and also part time "seaman" which may mean Merchant Marines. 6'3",Scandinavian descent, blonde, good looks. Both families may have lived in Edmonds, WA, north of Seattle. Both parents listed as Lutheran. My adoptive mother said birth father wanted to marry but mother did not. Said that birth mother's first name was Sharon. Said that birth mother lived with grandmother or aunt during later part of pregnancy. She thinks birth mother had a brother. May have attended Edmonds-Woodway high school.

The case worker's name is Dolores Kane- she still lives in Wenatchee, WA., but of course doesn't remember my specific case. Benjamin W. Eide was the Area Supervisor for CHS of W at that time. I was a single birth, and my birth mother was fifteen years old. The doctor in attendance was named J. E. Kells ?
