Also, my soon to be adoptive aunt helped deliver me and upon finding out I would be abandoned at the hospital, called my new parents (her brother) to ask if they wanted me, and they left Mississippi soon after to meet me. I was severely jondas and facing a full blood transfusion from RH-factor, but pulled through without the operation. Because Kathy's, (katherine Kathleen?) nurse was my soon to be aunt, yet neither of them new it at the time, my aunt shared all information she had about my birth mother, Kathy, and the circumstances of my birth as Kathy had explained them in the hospital that day, when I was 18 years old and has answered all of my questions since then. My birth mother, Kathy, signed the lawyer's (John Skaggs of LA) papers as "Kathy Mary Fitzpatrick" but my adoptive mother for some reason questions whether that was short for Kathleen or even Katherine. Kathy stated in the hospital that she was down from New York, was Irish Catholic,and was with the birth father staying with some of his? family, and my big brother who she said was 2 at the time, both looking for work and they could not afford to take care of another child. She grabbed my aunt by the arm and said "you must think im a monster". Which in heind sight, my aunt thought was weird because she had given me life and probably offered some consoling words or a loving smile. Soon, She became anxious and wanted to leave the hospital very quickly, not even waiting for the lawyer to arrive, but Before she left the hospital, Kathy also asked if I would get parents soon and if would be going to a good home, and my aunt said yes that there was already a family in line for me and she May have mentioned that this family had another adopted girl 2 1/2 years older so I would have a sibling. The anxiety and rush that insued, as far as her getting away from the hospital, struck the staff as odd, and If memories are correct, she left within several hours of giving birth, when most women stay at the hospital for a couple days for recovery time. There is also a story that I only first heard last october when I went back to Louisiana asking questions about my birth father-trying to find a name, looks, anything, because my heart tells me he or my brother are looking for me but have nothing to go on, given that neither were present at the birth- but the story goes that later in the afternoon, hours after she left the hospital, a man came into the maternity ward looking for a baby, and claiming that it was his. He was very distraught and peered through the glass trying to find "his baby" that "he knew had to have been born there today". There is no proof that I am the baby he was looking for, but it would explain the abandonment at the hospital, and going to the lawyers office later rather than waiting around to sign papers, the anxiety of wanting to leave in a hurry, and her listing the birth father as "unknown" after talking about him and a sibling to the nurses and staff. In other words, perhaps the comment "you must think I'm a monster" dwelled within her not because she was giving me up, but because she was giving me up without permission from a father who anticipated a child soon. Given this information, she may have taken me from a father who wanted me because she truly thought she was doing the best thing, as an impoverished, jobless parent, for a son she had a responsibility too, or she had a dark secret, affair or otherwise. The things she stated and did are the facts that I know. Unfortunately they lead to more speculation than truth and we will never know her reason for cutting the brthfather and brother that I literally "never had" out of my world of searching, until she is found and can tell me herself. I would love to find the brother I have dreamt about, loved and prayed for since I was seven years old. Any other family members would be a welcome surprise. I need this. Please, Im begging, I have been very blessed to have obtained a wealth of personal information that other adoptees are not as fortunate to obtain and if anyone out there even recognizes this story, Help, and God Bless. I will never be complete without my big brother in my life. In 2011 he would be between 30-31years old. Even though Kathy says she was New York, Irish, I have kinky, curly hair, dark in color with what others describe as "beautiful auburn highlights" and brown eyes, and somewhat alomondish eyeshape. My little girl has blue eyes like her father, so I'm almost positive Kathy did as well.(I obviously had a dominant brown and recessive blue gene) That would make sense if the birth father/family Kathy was staying with was of Kreole / Cajun / etc. descent, making it probable that the birth father would have given me my brown eyes. Despite my light skin and some frekles, especially when I was younger, I have been asked if I am Hispanic by other Hispanics, Italian by other Italians.
