I was adopted thru the Guilford County Division of Social Services. My birth mother was 19 years old and single. She had brown eyes and dirty brown hair. She was 5'2". She had a child in ?-?-1958 that was also put up for adoption. Both of her parents were deceased. Her father died at 40 due to diabetes. He was a high school graduate and a furniture factory worker. Her mother was 39. She had a 10th grade education and was a factory worker. Her brother was 22. He was a high school graduate and was in the Air Force. Her sister (age ?) is listed with an occupation with the Dept of Navy. Religious preference was Methodist. My Birth Registration Card was filed on 3-17-1960 and the certificate number is 1916. My birth is filed with the office of vital statistics in Volume 60 and page 020674. My Birth Certificate number is 1287541. It does not show any amendments. It also shows it was filed 3-17-1960 and vol. 60 and page 020674. Both show Adoptive name. I was adopted 6-27-1961 ? I was Baptized 10-1-1961 at the Crestwood Presbyterian Church in High Point, NC. My adoptive father was a WWII vet and owned his own label (printing) company. He was 36 at the time of my adoption. He passed away in 3-?-1970. My adoptive Mother was a home maker and had worked as a gray lady. She was 34 at the time of my adoption. She is also deceased. I have registered with adoption.com http://adoption.com/ and whentheboughbreaks.net. Martha from When the bough breaks searched the Guilford County Birth Index and did not find a match for me. She sent an email and said either my original birth name had been deleted (normal practice) or I was not born in Guilford County. Thanks for any help you may provide. (Update) I have found a plain piece of paper (brown with age) with Douglas typed at the top left, below that my date of birth, below that my shot record and a few other things up until the age of 12 months. I did not have good track record when it came to men. I am in therapy now to overcome my hatred for myself. I contacted a social worker (now retired) with the Mecklenburg County DSS with some important medical information. The social worker wrote me and sent a copy of a report on my baby when she was 7 weeks old. While in foster care, she was called (Stella) she had dark hair, big brown eyes, olive complexion and was petite. The social worker spoke with the "adoptive father" by telephone. He said that my daughter was well, had a son about 18 months old (he should be about 6 years old now). The SW stated that at the time of the adoption, the "adoptive father" was a professional person. There was not any mention about the "adoptive mother), if she worked or stayed home. This was in ?-?-2002. I talked with the SW by telephone. She said that my daughter was very easy to find. This leads me to believe that she is still living in the Charlotte area and that the "adoptive parents" still have the same telephone number, address, or both. I do not want to disrupt her life, but I do want to know if she had a wonderful life growing up and if I did the right thing by replenishing her for adoption. I have a 30 year old daughter and a 28 year old son from my marriage (husband died 5 years ago in auto accident). My daughter has serious issues (due to the life I led (before I got married). I never did drugs (tried Marijuania one time) and may have a sociable drink 2 times a year) My son and his wife have a 2 year old daughter and I may have seen her 10 times since she was born. My son blames me for his father getting killed.
