All Other Information: My mother was never formally adopted. On 4-20-1950 she was baptized at St. Francis church in Wakefield, RI. That is the only record of her birth that she has. If there is a birth certificate that my grandmother had, she never let my mother know about it. My mother celebrated her birthday as 4-21-1950 until 1993 when she needed a passport. That's when she went to the town hall to get a birth certificate but the town clerk, who knew my grandmother, said "you need to talk to your mother". When my mother asked for her birth certificate, all she had was the baptismal certificate- which was dated for my mother's DOB as 4-20-1950. My mother and I have signed up for 23andMe and found some DNA relatives in our town. All are second or third cousins, and all have the common last name of Beatrice in their family tree. One interesting story is that my mother's best friend growing up was Candace Culligan. My grandmother and Candace's mother were friends, and Candace and my mother were both only children. My mother and Candace ended up marrying brothers. Candace's father was a "deadbeat" dad, and so Candace's mother, Margaret Culligan, raised her on her own. There are "rumors" in town that Candace's father was either Anthony (Antonio) Beatrice or Albert Beatrice of South Kingstown, RI. Candace's birthday is 3-13- 1950. Sometimes we wonder if maybe Candace and my mother Kathy are related ?. My grandmother had a hysterectomy and couldn't have children, and she was very involved in the church, so we think she took my mom when the priest! secretly handled an "adoption".

All Other Information: I am searching for a sibling who was placed for adoption in late 1957-early 1958. My mother was discharged from the naval base at Newport in August, 1957 due to her pregnancy so it is likely that the birth occurred in 1-?-1958 to 3-?-1958 ?. I am unsure of the exact city but I know she stayed in that area because she met and married my father in Newport in late 1958. Birth mother was 20 years old at time of birth. 5’5” tall, with brown eyes and black or dark brown hair (hair turned gray in mid 30's). I am 5’1” tall, with green eyes and reddish brown hair but had premature graying which began in my late teens. Her birth father had Irish ancestry, birth mother's background was western European with some Native American (probably Cherokee or Coharie). No DNA testing done yet.
